June 11, 2013 – Industry seeks further extension on CFTC rules on cross-border swap activities

June 11, 2013

Several U.S. trade associations representing financial institutions request the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) for a six-month extension of an exemptive order on the CFTC’s swap rules for cross-border transactions that is set to expire July 12.  The trade associations said the extension is needed to consider implications of the recent SEC proposals on security-based cross-border swap activities and for international regulators to better coordinate their efforts towards a consistent global framework for regulating derivatives.  See below for the actual letter.
