Nov 7, 2013 Young Professionals Event, Reagan Building, Washington DC
The Financial Risk Institute (FinRisk) and The MSFA, University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business were pleased to be able to successfully co-organize The Young Professionals Series on: “Career in Risk – A Day in the Life of a Quant”.
First impressions: There are truly few events where we had to close registration, even despite having arranged an additional room to accommodate the high level of interest. From an attendance standpoint, the event was clearly hugely successful, with so many packed in the room; and choosing to stand through the two-hour panel discussion. In addition, many indicated in the feedback we received at the event at the Reagan Building yesterday that they have benefitted much from the practical insights shared by the panelists. It is amazing from the panel’s perspective to see the hunger and demand for more in the Young Professionals group. That alone is sufficient gratification for us to want to do more to steer and prepare the next generation for the risk and regulation challenges ahead.
